Boat valuation is not the same as car valuation. Two identical hulls can be worth very different money depending on what is bolted to the transom, and a good outboard can easily be worth more than the boat it is pushing. When you call, the details that move the price most are the engine make, model and hours, whether it currently runs, whether the trailer is included and registered, and the condition of the floor, transom and stringers.

Aluminium hulls hold a reliable floor price because the metal itself is recyclable and in demand. Fibreglass is the opposite: a sound glass hull with a good motor is worth real money, but a waterlogged glass hull with no engine is a disposal cost for most people, which is exactly the situation we are set up to handle.

Trailers matter more than most sellers expect. A roadworthy, registered trailer under the boat can add meaningfully to the offer, because it can be sold on separately. If the trailer has collapsed or gone missing, tell us up front so we bring the right lifting equipment rather than turning up with the wrong truck.

If there are outstanding berth fees or a yard lien on the boat, mention it early - it usually can be worked through, but it needs to be handled before the boat moves.

Derelict vessels are a growing problem for marinas, caravan parks, storage yards and body corporates, and the usual disposal quotes are eye-watering. We take the opposite approach: wherever there is recoverable value in the metal, the engine, the electronics or the running gear, we pay for the vessel rather than charging to remove it.

Storm and flood damaged boats are handled the same way. A hull that has been swamped, rolled or holed still carries value in its outboard leg, electronics, winches, rails, seating and aluminium content. We dismantle responsibly, recycle the metal, and dispose of fuel, oil and batteries through licensed channels rather than sending everything to landfill.
